My best to the Mr. and Mrs.
Encountering life’s hits and misses
Can be a rough ride,
But with luck on your side,
Your journey will be hugs and kisses.
A teacher who was a good egg
Taught students to stand on one leg
‘Til a student takeover
Caused him to fall over,
‘Twas the day they broke open the keg.
Three cheers for our new paladin
Kinder than most we call kin
Who cares if some days
He gets in a craze
And can’t tell his yang from his yin.
A pianist who needed to sleep
Would leave all his notes in a heap
‘Stead of playing for guests
He’d hang with the rests
He knew that the music would keep.
It’s the gold one for Rita and Cleve
They share what we hope to achieve
She greets him at dawn
He still mows her lawn
You know something’s up somebody’s sleeve.
It’s off to the gym that I go
A road hard to travel, you know,
But I’ll do my best
I’ll rise to the test
With a dust from my friend Sunday snow
I swear, I’m not a pretender
I’m here as a serious contender
So Little Bo Peep
Gave in to the sheep
She knew he would never surrender.
At one with piano and more
She sings while conducting a score
And when she composes
She parts Cs just like Moses
From her the music just soars.
No words I can think of to say
Will take any troubles away
Still this verse comes to you
With the hope it pokes through
And does something to brighten your day.
I can always count on kind Dave
Re my writing, he’s there with a rave
When all’s said and done
He might be the only one
But no less does that make him my fave
